Kirsten, all mental stress is self imposed, just some we are less aware of.

I would say that your fear places your thoughts at a lower level of vibration in these subjects and that holds you back from relaxing and seeing the solution.

Thanks Suzanna.

Tim, yes I think that the 'I' relates to a lower level of thought and vibration in line with Eintein's views.

Hi Ruth, I would agree with Einstein's philosophy. How does that fit with stress?

I suppose it would be in identifying with the lower vibration and losing sight of the higher vibration, the energy from which all originates.

To use one of Einstein's quotes, every solution is found at a higher level of thinking. Which in these terms is looking at a higher, less specific, level of vibration.

What about situationally self-imposed mental stress? I find that in worrisome situations like doctors or dentists chairs, I'm able to completely 'zone' into a comfortable mental 'other-world' thereby avoiding both mental stress and physical pain. I don't know how I do it, I just do it. I've never practiced meditation. However, with mental stress related to relationships, for example, I can't. I am completely obsessed by negative thoughts and worry about outcomes. Like a phobic, I know many of my thoughts and worries are irrational but I can't seem to stop them.

Hi Rob. I have been meditating (on and off) for 20 years now. I would have to say that the real breakthrough came when I actually inquired as to who exactly this "I" was that was meditating!

When we have the realisation that the "I" that thinks it is being stressed is actually operating at the same level as the stressors themselves, and this "I" is just another thought-construct stress drops away.

However, I feel that this is a subject for another time, perhaps :)

Best.
Tim

Hi Rob, For me this is very clear and pulls things together. Would welcome a bit more on what you call oneness. I have been reading a little about Einsteins philosophy recently and what you are saying is reflecting that somehow I feel. He talks about everything effectively being energy and mass just being the lowering of the vibration so that we can see it and so effectively we are all connected. This makes sense to me although not quite sure how it fits with stress. Would welcome any views.
