Failure and Happiness

So often I talk to people who are devastated by any sense that they have failed. There seems to be this programming of people by society that they have to be perfect.

The central theme of the Happiness 2.0 report was about the need to be right rather than happy. And part of that is that when people perceive failure in themselves, whether it’s a failed result, a failed judgement or a failed theory, they beat themselves up for not being perfect. No one gets it right all the time and you really wouldn’t want to be perfect. Perfection means the games over. Imperfection means you get to try again.

So here’s a video to bookmark and return to when you fail.

Ignore that found it now - I seem to remember reading Einstein was turned down by a major academic institution.

the way I see is that we are so rightly wrong and so wrongly right;
so are we so perfectly imperfect and so imperfectly perfect…
thats who we are…
fixations to this of any kind to any extremes will bring us the imbalance - the low and the high;
observations on this would takes to the neutral,
so that we can witness ourselves
and cautch us in the act of whatever we do,
thus enabling us to choose differently for a different effect…

a little bit of forgiving on ourselves
for holding ourselves back from allowing us to flow
would help us heaps…
forgive that we are being too tough on ourselves;
forgive that we dont allow ourselves to ‘fail’ or go ‘wrong’;
forgive ourselves that we keep insisting that there is failure…
to fail means to conclude on the journey, which is not the truth…

kindness that we cannot give ourselves,
is the kindness we cannot give anyone else…
forgiveness that we cannot give ourselves,
is the forgiveness that we cannot give anyone else…
what we do to ourselves, how we do it to ourselves
is what we do to others and how we do it to others…
yet Life brings us opportunities to turn ourselves around
to JUST BE from within-out…
yet, this itself is a journey of its own without a specific destination…

Sereena.
